Portsmouth Time Machine for 2023

BUILDING A PORTSMOUTH TIME MACHINE -- It's true. illustrator ROBERT SQUIER er and I are knee-deep into the creation of a 32-page comic book-style history of Portsmouth that we hope to release before summer 2023. It was just a glint in our eye until, thanks to Denise Wheeler, Portsmouth400 and the Greater Piscataqua Community Foundation, we received funds to get down to work. PORTSMOUTH TIME MACHINE will feature the adventure of two young students who, due to a cell phone glitch while studying online, are catapulted through time. Instead of reading about local history, Seth and Ella encounter key events and people from Portsmouth's past. The last 400-year survey history book about Portsmouth for kids went out of print in the 1960s, so now seemed the ideal time to create a fun and factual 21st century version. Other local supporters to date include Peter Egelston amd Amanda and Jay McSharry, The project also dovetails with my next book-in-progress for students and adults--1623-- that explores the largely forgotten and short-lived fishing outpost at Rye from which New Hampshire takes its founding date. Here's a glimpse of the characters that we'll all come to love as we share their time traveling adventure next year. Okay Rob, back to the drawing board.
