PORTSMOUTH TIME MACHINE
The Graphic History of Portsmouth, NH

Picture
Illustrated by Robert Squier

A history research project goes wild when a cell phone glitch catapults Ella and Seth into a time warp. From an Abenaki village a thousand years in the past to a robot-ruled future, they explore New Hampshire’s only seacoast up close. Portsmouth Time Machine is the first-ever graphic survey of New Hampshire’s only seaport. Deeply researched and richly illustrated.

AUTHOR NOTES
Finally got to work with one of my favorite illustrators. We spent a year collaborating on this colorful and original capsule history of our home town. You can see all about it by clicking the link to the video by NH CHRONICLE that traces Robert Squier's artistic origins.

I went out on a limb to self-publish this one with my new Harbortown Press impression. Denise Wheeler of Rye and the PortsmouthNH400th and other sponsors made it possible.  My job was to squeeze 40 years of research from thousands of published articles into a 32-page highly visual package. AND IT WORKED.  The first 1,000 copies quickly disappeared and we have spoken since to hundreds of local kids from third through eighth grade and they love the adventures of Seth and Ella.

We are now in production with a sequel, BUNKER HILL TIME MACHINE, to be released in 2025 for the 250th anniversary of the famous Revolutionary War Battle. Our book traces the making-of the iconic Boston monument from the laying of the cornerstone in 1825 to the present day.
